Pianist Mariangela Vacatello is internationally acclaimed for her formidable technique, passionate artistry, and refined musical intelligence. Gramophone praised her performances for their “superb zest, brio and imaginative scope,” placing her among today’s most compelling pianists.
Her international career was launched at the age of 17 with Second Prize at the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. Since then, she has appeared at major venues including Teatro alla Scala, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Weill Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, and leading festivals worldwide, collaborating with prominent orchestras such as the Filarmonica della Scala, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, WDR Köln, and RAI National Symphony Orchestra, under conductors including Krzysztof Penderecki, Andris Nelsons, and Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
A laureate of major international competitions—including Queen Elisabeth, Busoni, and Van Cliburn—she was a Gilmore Rising Star and records for Brilliant Classics. Deeply engaged with contemporary music, she has collaborated extensively with IRCAM.
Vacatello is Professor of Piano at the “F. Morlacchi” Conservatory of Perugia and the Pinerolo International Music Academy, and regularly serves as a juror for Geneva Federation competitions. From 2024, she is Artistic Director of the Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano.
