I am a Portuguese cellist from Porto, I have recently finished my Bachelor’s degree in Cello at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, Netherlands. My musical journey began when I was five years old, starting with piano lessons. However, at 9 years old I decided to switch to cello.
I began studying cello at the Conservatory of Póvoa de Varzim under the guidance of Ana Luísa Marques. Later, during the 10th grade, I decided to fully immerse myself in music by joining ARTAVE Escola Profissional Artística do Vale do Ave, where I combined academic studies with professional artistic training. Between 2018 and 2021, I studied with Jaroslav Mikus, whose teaching played an important role in my musical and artistic development.
After graduating from ARTAVE, I continued my studies at Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam, where I have been studying with Jeroen den Herder. Alongside my main studies, I have also received orchestral excerpt coaching from Roger Regter, helping me further develop my orchestral skills and musical versatility.
Throughout my education, I have had the opportunity to participate in several orchestras and musical projects. Between 2018 and 2021, I performed with the ARTAVE Symphony Orchestra, where I worked with conductors including Luís Machado, Radu Postavaru, David Bruchez, Roberto Perez, Maxime Tortelier, and Ernst Schelle. In 2019, I participated in the International Music Festival of Portel, where I worked with maestro Luís Miguel Clemente and teacher Joana Rocha.
In 2020, I completed an internship with Orquestra XXI under the direction of maestro Dinis Sousa. Since 2021, I have been part of the Codarts Symphony Orchestra, working with conductors such as Sander Teepen, Mikel Fernández, Jamie Philips, and Hans Leenders. I also joined the JOF -Famalicão Youth Orchestra in 2022 and the Alto Minho Youth Orchestra in 2024, where I worked with conductor Nuno Coelho and mentor Raul Miras.
Alongside orchestral experience, I have participated in masterclasses with distinguished cellists and musicians, including António Oliveira, Catherine Strynckx, Miguel Rocha, Stefan Popov, David Cohen, Herre-Jan Stegenga, Eduardo Gonzalez Lopez, Benedict Kloeckner, Jonathan Brown, and Marc Danel, particularly in chamber music settings.
Looking ahead, I am excited to continue growing as a musician through future international projects, including the Mondego Academy in Coimbra, the Orchestre des Jeunes du Centre in France, and the Menuhin Festival Youth Orchestra in Switzerland.
